Happy Halloween!
Well it has been a remarkably dark, quiet evening. No trick-or-treaters on the western front. I am currently watching 'Bedlam', another extremely insightful Channel 4 documentary about anxiety disorders - the problem of thinking you're causing people to fall into bins, or have an accident while not on the toilet (for the nicest way to explain that!). I must admit I am pretty man-ish in my emotions and empathetic ability, but it's still pretty sad to see how individuals have got into this state. Although a psychology graduate, I still have difficulty comprehending how people cannot simply objectify their emotions and get on with life, but I may yet have the opportunity to meet some sufferers in the near future. This week at work I have been largely left to my own devices, beginning to write my first ever report for the council I am working at. The office has been quiet as many of the area managers have been trying to clear a hoarders house in order to fit central heating at a tenants house for the first time ever! I am hopeful I will be able to meet the lady in question tomorrow - in my guise as apprentice recycling assistant - to help her create a cleaner, more minimalist home even if my early lack of empathy disables me from ever fully understanding her situation. I enjoy helping people and dream to be given the tools and knowledge to be able to do so for individuals in a wide range of situations, but although an enthusiastic graduate, I'm aware I must sit tight and keep listening before I open my mouth at the beginning of my career. Despite my passion for helping others, I feel a rant coming on about how I do not like buying presents for other people - knowledge is far more powerful than material goods ever will be - and on that note, I'm signing out of here to give me time to keep updating my whole website, and plan my anti-Christmas-present rant.
