Christmas and New Year came and went in a flash, as to be expected with imminent essay deadlines and exams for final year. I finally submitted my essay related to the module that began the creation of this website - 'New Communication Technologies in the US'. It reminded me how quickly the second half of last year went. It was 6 months ago now since we set off for the great adventure to Colorado to learn about media, journalism and the hands-on aspects behind it. It was an amazing month settling into a new country and university, with the Rocky Mountains an enviable backdrop to wake up to every morning. My summer holds amazing memories of all the countries I was lucky enough to visit and the variety of people I met from so many different walks of life.
The different personalities you meet and situations you get into while travelling become part of an adventure, however one which seems almost surreal in hindsight! Being able to put yourself into other peoples shoes, and make decisions as you go along is all part of a character, sometimes like acting. I have just finished a longer poem as part of an English module that involves just that, as the author I had to understand a situation and explain from another perspective; to engross myself in uncertainty about the future in order to live today. There is something so exciting about that, but which I, as I'm sure many people, do find difficult. Live as best you can for today and then, with a little help, the future will sort itself out! Now back to the essays and consideration of job hunting as I myself wonder what to do after graduation. But first, to start planning next summer's adventures!
